            Short version: We collect only what's needed to run the app. We don't sell your data. You can delete your account and all data at any time.
        

1. Who We Are

PICKLEPATH ("we", "us", "our") is a pickleball community platform. The data controller is the individual operator of this platform. For questions, contact us at the email provided in the app.

2. Data We Collect

Account Data

Email address — required to create and secure your account (via Firebase Authentication)
Display name — auto-generated from your email, editable by you
Password — never stored by us; handled securely by Firebase/Google

Profile Data (You Provide Voluntarily)

City and country
Profile photo URL
Play style, format preferences, availability
Short personal bio ("About Me")
DUPR rating ID (if you choose to add it)

Activity Data (Generated by App Use)

ELO rating and match history within the platform
Sessions joined or hosted (drill sessions, events, tournaments)
Club memberships and roles
Chat messages sent in session and event chats
Session log entries (duration, type, date — self-logged)
Pulse score (engagement metric within the platform)

Technical Data

Browser type and device category (standard web server logs)
App preferences stored in your browser's localStorage (e.g. active club, theme)

What We Do NOT Collect

Payment or credit card information
Precise GPS location
Contacts, microphone, or camera data
Data from third-party social networks

3. Why We Use Your Data

Contract performance: To provide the core app features — creating sessions, joining events, viewing rankings
Legitimate interest: To prevent fraud, spam, and abuse (rate limiting, email verification)
Legal obligation: To comply with applicable laws

4. Data Storage & Third Parties

Your data is stored in Google Firebase / Firestore, operated by Google LLC in data centres covered by Google's data processing agreements. Firebase is certified under ISO 27001, SOC 2/3, and complies with GDPR as a data processor.

We do not share, sell, or rent your personal data to any third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Data Retention

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your Firestore user document, session logs, and Firebase Auth record are permanently deleted within 30 days.

Chat messages you sent may remain briefly before automated cleanup. We do not archive deleted user data.

6. Your Rights (GDPR / Data Subject Rights)

Right of access: Request a copy of your personal data
Right to rectification: Correct inaccurate data via your profile settings
Right to erasure: Delete your account and all data from within the app settings
Right to restrict processing: Contact us to pause data use
Right to portability: Request your data in a portable format
Right to object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests

To exercise any right, use the "Delete Account" option in your profile or contact us directly.

7. Cookies & Local Storage

We use localStorage to store your preferences (active club, tutorial progress, install prompt status). No third-party advertising cookies are used. Firebase may set necessary session cookies for authentication.

8. Children's Privacy

PICKLEPATH is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us for immediate removal.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

            Short version: Be respectful, don't cheat, don't spam. We can suspend accounts that abuse the platform. Use at your own risk.
        

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using PICKLEPATH, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU) to use PICKLEPATH.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password
You must provide accurate information when registering
You must verify your email address to access all features
One account per person — creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions is prohibited
You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account

3. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

Post false, misleading, abusive, or spam content in chat or profiles
Harass, threaten, or intimidate other users
Attempt to manipulate ELO scores, rankings, or match results through cheating
Use automated scripts, bots, or tools to interact with the platform
Create multiple accounts to evade bans or rate limits
Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or copy the platform
Upload malicious files, scripts, or content

4. User Content

You retain ownership of content you submit (profile info, chat messages, bio). By submitting content, you grant PICKLEPATH a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to display that content within the platform for the purpose of operating the service.

You are solely responsible for content you post. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms.

5. Session & Event Rules

Session hosts are responsible for accurate session information
Match results must be entered honestly — falsifying results is a ban-worthy offence
Club admins are responsible for the conduct of their club's members

6. Account Suspension & Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate these terms, with or without prior notice. Grounds include: cheating, spamming, abuse, creating multiple accounts, or any behaviour that degrades the experience for others.

You may delete your own account at any time from your profile settings.

7. Limitation of Liability

PICKLEPATH is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for:

Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from platform use
Loss of data, session records, or ranking history due to technical issues
Conduct of other users on or off the platform
Accuracy of ELO ratings, rankings, or match outcomes

8. Disclaimer

PICKLEPATH does not organise, endorse, or take responsibility for physical pickleball sessions, events, or matches arranged through the platform. Participation in any physical activity is at your own risk.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator is based. Disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation before pursuing legal action.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification.
